A coalition of Latino and Chinese-American groups Wednesday offered its own version of a plan to redraw the city's ward map — the third proposal to be presented to aldermen and, potentially, voters.
The latest was unveiled by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund and immediately endorsed by the Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community.
Latinos would get 14 Hispanic-majority wards with a voting-age population that's at least 60% Hispanic, and Chinatown would be kept intact in one ward that would have a 44% Asian-American voting-age population. That would meet a key demand from each of those groups. READ MORE
