BECOME A CRISIS LINER!

Crisis liners are volunteers who are responsible for answering calls to the National Runaway Switchboard’s (NRS) 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY. Liners are trained to effectively provide support and services for callers in a non-judgmental and empowering manner. The training program consists of 40 hours of instruction, discussion, and role-plays. All training activities support the liners in learning successful active listening and crisis intervention skills. After completion of training volunteers are asked to commit 2-4 hours/week for at least a year’s time. Liners must be at least 16 years of age.

BECOME A STREET TEAM MEMBER!

The goal of the National Runaway Switchboard street team is to get the word out about NRS’ national hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY, to teens and families nation-wide. Street team members can hit the street, pass out wallet cars, pens and brochures, or present homeless and runaway issues to their classmates, submit YouTube videos, or get the Runaway Prevention Curriculum implemented in their classroom or school. Activities earn street team members rewards which include key-chains, mouse pads, mugs, hats, t-shirts, messenger bags and more.
